If you’re new to the world of vaping and are shopping around for e-liquids, you probably have questions regarding how long a bottle lasts, and how much you need to buy.

Finding your feet with vaping is (admittedly) tricky in the first few weeks but selecting e-liquids is a breeze once you know what to look out for.

This post covers everything you need to know about e-liquids – including how long they last and how much you’ll need to keep on top of those pesky nicotine cravings.

How long should a bottle last?

Typically, a 10ml bottle of e-liquid is equivalent to about 100 traditional tobacco cigarettes.

This is the most common size you’ll find online and in vape shops, and if you’re a heavier smoker, used to having more than a pack of cigarettes per day, it should last you up to a week.

Of course, if you’re not used to smoking as much as this, the bottle will last you a little longer, but how often you use your e-cig isn’t the only factor that determines how long your e-liquid will last.

It’s about how you use your device, too.

If you’re puffing on your vape all day long, or if you’re using a sub-ohm device to achieve thick, dense vapour clouds, you’re bound to run out of liquid a lot quicker.

How many bottles should I buy?

The quicker you go through a 10ml bottle, the more you’ll have to stock up for the week or month.

Again, the amount you’ll need to buy depends, but if you’re getting through a bottle a week it’s a good idea to buy 3 or 4 to see you through to the end of the month.

If you’re a lighter smoker, 2 should suffice for the month – with each bottle lasting you around 2 weeks.

It’s important to plan ahead once you get a feel for it so that you don’t leave yourself short.

How do I store my e-liquid?

Your e-liquids shouldn’t be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, direct sunlight or oxygen – so a cool, dry place like a kitchen cupboard or drawer is perfect.

These things contribute to your liquids expiring much faster than they should, so it’s important to ensure you’re storing them correctly.

All high-quality liquids should last for up to 2 years if you follow this guidance.

Will I be able to tell if they’ve gone bad?

Yes.

Like most things, e-liquids have expiration dates.

Although they don’t ‘go bad’ as such and you can still vape them, after their 2-year shelf life, their ingredients will have started to degrade – meaning you won’t get the strength, flavour or throat hit that you’re used to.

Alongside this, you’ll also start to notice changes in colour and smell, as well as heavy elements resting at the bottom of the bottle.
